BEHIND THE SCENES

"It takes about 10 miracles to complete an independent movie," said William Fitchner.  I would add, "and a lot of hard work."

Take a peek behind the curtain at some of the fascinating stories, techniques and behind the scenes magic that went into making Beyond the Lake.

Interview with David Socolar

David came onto Beyond the Lake on less than two weeks notice.

Its safe to say we could not imagine the movie with out him.  Not only did he deliver an absolutely stellar performance, he got on so well with the cast and crew on both sides of the camera and made every day such a blast.

Watch director Domenic Porcari talk with David about his experience with the movie, from the first phone call to the production's smashing end. (literally)

The Production Journey

Five actors through the lead role, a complete turnover of the entire cast and crew, production setbacks, statewide shutdowns, a month on a lake, broken laptops, broken guitars, rewrites, reshoots, re-edits, a fateful bag-pipe player, and so much more all culminated in a finished shoot.

Take a look at a beautiful montage of all of the stories and moments that went into the principle photography for Beyond the Lake.

the Original Crowdfunding Video

Fundraising for films is hard enough.  Doing so in the heigh of a global pandemic requires an extra special effort and presentation.

Watch this hilariously entertaining video that Writer/Director Domenic Porcari created almost single handedly to formally, or perhaps informally, introduce his vision for this film to the world.

the Proof of Concept

What do you do when you're about to start shooting your movie tomorrow, and your lead actor tells you he got hit by a truck?

Lots of things.  But in the moment, you don't want to waste all that time and money, so you have your director step into the role and film try out a few scenes on a smaller scale.

Check out this look at the early vision of the film, and how it changed tonally and thematically in the final cut.
